The Centre has launched a skill council exclusively for the handicraft and carpet sector to promote skill development among artisans, craft persons and workers at the grassroots level and help them adopt latest techniques.
Launching the council here on Wednesday, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) & Parliamentary Affairs, said the percentage of skilled workforce in the country is very low compared with that in China, the UK, the US, Japan and Germany. He said Skill India is must for the success of ‘Make in India
