Skoda Auto India will concentrate on positioning itself in the premium segment with focus on features rather than launching new products on a frequent basis, according to Denver Fonseca, Head – Communications, Skoda Auto.
Addressing a press conference at the launch of the ‘Zeal Edition’ of the Skoda range, he said the cars are positioned on the value luxury segment rather than volumes.
Octavia, launched in 2013, continues to see a keen demand with a waiting time of 4-6 weeks. Without sharing numbers, he said Skoda dominates the high-end segment.
The Zeal addition with black interiors will be available on all models as a standard except in the Rapid where it is part of a package of various options.
Manish Tiwari, Regional Sales Manager, South & West, said, with sales of 15,500 units in 2014 the Rapid is the volume driver accounting for three-fourths of the company’s sales. Skoda India, with 76 dealerships and 75 service stations, will expand as and when required. There is a keen emerging demand in the small cities, he said.
