A statement confided to court by an aggrieved person seeking to directly link Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar scam figured during question hour in the State Assembly this morning.
Political circles are expecting the issue to charge up the atmosphere as the House enters the zero hour later this morning.
An emergency meeting of leaders of ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front and ministers held earlier this morning is reported to have arrived at a strategy to face off the challenge.
Meanwhile, home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told the House that it would not be proper to discuss the contents of the statement made by Sreedharan Nair, a solar entrepreneur, and submitted in sealed cover to a court.
It was made under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code and did not lend itself for discussion in a public forum since it was a matter under consideration of the court.
Purported contents of Nair’s statement had triggered a political storm even forcing the Chief Minister to mull resignation, but which was promptly shot down by coalition partners.
