The industry as well general consumers should make full use of the subsidies and incentives given by the State Government and the Union Government to tap solar energy and reduce pressure on conventional sources of energy, according to M. Kamalakara Babu, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the AP New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (AP Nedcap).
He was speaking here on Tuesday after inaugurating a 3-kw solar power unit atop the local Nedcap office at a cost of Rs 6 lakh, half of it being subsidised by the Union Government and the rest borne by the department. He said it was third such unit set up in the State, the first two being in the Government offices in Hyderabad and Karimnagar.
Subsidies
He urged the industry and general consumers as well to make use of the subsidies and incentives being given by the State and Central Government for solar power generation and from other renewable energy sources. He said 50 per cent subsidy would be given - 30 per cent will be borne by the Centre and the rest by the State - and there would also be exemptions for the industry from electrical duty and wheeling charges. He said the State Government was offering several other incentives.
Kamalakara Babu said Nedcap was conducting energy audit in 113 municipalities.
