TeachAIDS, a nonprofit social venture spun out of Stanford University, will create a customised version of its HIV education software for Assam, in cooperation with the Government of the North-Eastern State.
The project is supported by a $200,000 investment from global health service player Cigna.
The investment from Cigna will also support the development of regionally-customised TeachAIDS software in Karnataka, where the Government has also a partner.
These regional versions will supplement others which were launched earlier in Telugu and English, featuring the voices of popular Bollywood stars including Shabana Azmi, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan.
India has the third-highest number of HIV-infected people in the world, after South Africa and Nigeria.
