The winter session of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly convened on Thursday will be a brief and yet extremely significant one from the point of view of taking up a discussion on the Bill to facilitate the creation of a separate State of Telangana.

The Business Advisory Committee of the House will meet a day before on December 11 to chart out the agenda for the session and the duration of the meeting.

With the Union Cabinet approving the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Draft Bill 2013 and forwarding the same to the President, it is likely to be sent to the Assembly for discussion.

If the Bill comes for consideration before the House, it is likely that there could be discussion on the bill for three to four days, allowing representatives from various political parties to express their views on the Bill.

In the past few Assembly sessions, due to the constant demand of discussion and passage of a resolution for separate Statehood of Telangana, the business could not proceed as per listed agenda.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has made it clear that all efforts would be made to ensure their views on retaining Andhra Pradesh as a unified State are communicated.

The Speaker, Nadendla Manohar is expected to have a tough time ensuring smooth functioning of the House. The City Police Commissioner, Anurag Sharma has met him and explained the security and law and order arrangements.
