Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor admitted to Rajkot hospital after she tested positive

The H1N1 virus claimed nine more lives in Gujarat on Saturday taking the deathtoll to 265 since January 1. The state recorded 206 fresh cases of swine flu today with total positive cases reaching 4368.

Bollywood actor, Sonam Kapoor, who is visiting Gujarat and was shooting for her upcoming film 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' in Rajkot has been diagnosed with Swine Flu on Saturday. The actor has been admitted to a private hospital in the city.

The maximum number of positive cases were reported in Ahmedabad (97) followed by Surat (26), Vadodara (10), Kutch, Rajkot, Bhavnagar eight each among others.

On Saturday, the H1N1 Influenza claimed three lives in Ahmedabad, while one died of the virus each in Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Kutch, Anand and Banaskantha.

The state government claimed sufficient measures being taken to tame the virus from spreading. As per a state government statement, the state has received total 1500 vaccines for Swine Flu.

"About 6595 medical teams have visited total five lakh houses and contacted 23 lakh persons to check for any virus symptoms," the statement said. The state government has also claimed that 2904 people have been cured till date. 

However, opposition in the state Assembly, Congress has demanded strongest action to stop the virus from spreading and spread awareness about the infectious disease among students and general public.

Notably, several political leaders including State Assembly Speaker Ganpat Vasava, State's Junior minister for Health Shankar Chaudhary, two MLAs, several government employees including IAS officers have already been tested positive.
