The Switzerland government is likely to provide technical assistance through the Indo-Swiss bilateral project, Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP), to Andhra Pradesh in developing the new capital city of Amaravati.
The bilateral project aims to reduce energy consumption in new buildings. The Switzerland government will provide technical support in construction of energy efficient buildings in Amaravati.
A communication to this effect was received by the Power Ministry from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Government of Switzerland, according to a statement.
The BEEP aims to help reduce energy consumption in new commercial building complexes, malls and to disseminate best practices for construction of low energy consuming residential and public buildings. The objective is to enhance construction standards and, thereby, reduce electricity bills.
After receiving a communication from the Centre, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary, Energy, Industry and Infrastructure, Capital Region Development Authority, said the Centre has suggested to the AP government that it depute an official delegation to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency for discussing the proposed BEEP implementation plan.
Ajay Jain said the State was committed to the effective implementation of energy efficiency activities, which would benefit all the stakeholders.
The Indo-Swiss BEEP implementation would promote sustainable architecture, duly utilising Swiss expertise for designing energy efficient buildings.
