The Tamil Nadu Assembly will meet on January 2 with Governor Banwarilal Purohit delivering his customary address to the House.

A communication from the state legislative Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan on Wednesday said the Governor has summoned the House to meet at 10 AM on January 2. “The Governor of Tamil Nadu proposes to address the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly the same day,” it added.

Earlier, a special session of the House was convened on December 6 and it adopted a unanimous resolution urging the Centre to withdraw the permission given to Karnataka for preparing a Detailed Project Report for a dam across the Cauvery at Mekedatu.

The coming session, whose duration will likely be decided on January 2, could see the House debate key issues like the post cyclone Gaja developments and the Sterlite issue.
