Software exports from Tamil Nadu are expected to fetch Rs 50,000 crore in 2012-13, registering a growth of 10 per cent, official sources said today.
In 2011-12, software exports from the state were worth Rs 46,791 crore against Rs 42,210.65 crore in the previous year.
The state’s software exports are expected to reach Rs 50,000 crore with a 10 per cent increase in 2012-13, sources in the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) said.
Tamil Nadu is home to about 1,700 IT companies. Currently, there are about 3.50 lakh people directly employed in IT and ITeS companies, while 7.50 lakh through indirect employments, they added.
