The annual market research event of the Manipal-based T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) — BrandScan — will begin on October 27.

Chowdari Prasad, Dean (Branding & Promotions) of TAPMI, told Business Line that 2012 is the 20th year of this market research event, which is unique of its kind in India’s B-schools.

In BrandScan, the market research is done in the form of ‘disguised games’ to get unbiased response from consumers. These disguised games are all worked on by the students of TAPMI to find out the consumer preferences and behaviour.

The consumers may be of different age groups and respond through some research questions. The event is a fun, hands-on, and serious learning through research, he said.

BrandScan

BrandScan has been associated with various brands in the corporate sector over the last 19 years, and has handled 219 projects so far.

This year, the event will be conducted in three formats — mall format, rural format and fair format. The mall format will be conducted at City Centre Mall in Mangalore on October 27 and 28.

Chowdari Prasad said that BrandScan has expanded its horizons in its 20th edition. Rural format is the new entry for this market research event this year. The rural format will be conducted at Nehru Maidan in Kundapur of Udupi district on November 3.

In addition to the market research, there will be quiz for women and a children’s talent show in Kundapur. A bike stunt show and dance competition will be the other attractions there.

The fair format of market research will be conducted at Manipal on November 4. This will have other attractions such as ‘ideal couple’ event, children’s talent show, fashion show, and treasure hunt, he added.
