Task force on L&T Hyderabad Metro to thrash out bottlenecks

The special task force meeting chaired by Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma has decided to thrash out bottlenecks in implementation of L&T Hyderabad metro rail project even as test runs for stage-I are underway.

The Chief Secretary expressed there is a sense of urgency and the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is keen that the metro rail project is completed as per schedule.

N.V.S.Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail said the construction activity is in progress in 45 km of 3 Metro rail corridors. Foundations for 43 km, casting of piers for a length of 40 km, viaduct erection for 30.5 km were completed and construction on 27 stations is also in progress. Viaduct, track, traction system of stage-1 (Nagole to Mettuguda) are completed and test runs for the trains are successfully going on.

He said 283 critical properties have been identified for road widening in three metro rail corridors for smooth flow of traffic during execution and targets were given for land acquisition to be completed by December, 2014.

During the meeting, Railway officials were requested to handover the affected land for widening of road and construction of metro rail station and another small portion of Railways land for formation of approach road for Road Under Bridge.

Permission for sharing of Right of Way was sought from Road Transport Corporation and support from police to open up more fronts for taking up works.

However, the meeting was silent about alignment change which is being talked of lately.
