Tata Docomo has expanded its 3G network and plans to increase its retail presence in Karnataka too.
The company is planning to enhance the 3G network coverage and presence in the region by adding an additional 1000 cell sites, to increase its network footprints to over 3100 cell sites by July this year.
The 3G network coverage will be extended to total of 53 towns across Karnataka, covering all major cities and towns, which includes Bagalkot, Shimoga, Bellary, Tumkur, Chikmaglur, Bhadravati, Chikballapur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Raichur, Gagag, Gokak, Kolar, Mandya, Gangavathi, Gadag, Sira, Madikeri, Koppal, Yadagir, Hassan to the already existing 10 major towns namely Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Manipal, Udupi, Hubli, Belgaum, Dharwad, Hospet and Gulburga.
Additionally, Tata Docomo has made significant investments in the expansion of its retail footprint, details of which the company did not share. However, in addition to 84 technologically advanced retail stores, it has around 50,000 retail outlets and plans to expand its retail footprint.
Rohit Tandon, Head – Mobility Business Unit, Karnataka Circle, Tata Docomo said that this expansion will also enable us to capitalize and further our leadership position in the rapidly growing data market on small and large screens across GSM and CDMA platforms.
Tata Teleservices has a presence across 19 circles in India.
