Cine actor and Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan has hit out at the Telugu Desam Party for “betraying the interests of the people of the State in general and Girijans in the agency areas of the State in particular.”
He was addressing a rally at Paderu in the eastern ghats of Visakhapatnam district, popularly known as the agency area, on Wednesday. Regretting that he had lent support to the TDP-BJP alliance in 2014, he said in the aftermath of bifurcation, the State needed an experienced politician. But the performance of Chandrababu Naidu and that of the TDP was disappointing.
He said illegal quarrying was going on in the agency area and the mineral wealth was being exploited with impunity, causing great damage to environment, and the aboriginal inhabitants (Girijans). He promised the Girijans that he would provide a better alternative. Pawan Kalyan’s comments come in the wake of recent reports that he is getting closer to the TDP again. However, even as TDP leaders go soft on Pawan Kalyan, the latter has been strident.
