Technology makes society less humane. It is increasingly impacting and changing the way people work, according to Randstad Workmonitor survey.
Nearly 75 per cent of survey respondents felt technology makes society less humane. The survey of over 600 people showed 81 per cent of the female respondents felt this way compared with 71 per cent males, said a release from the recruitment company Randstad, which does this quarterly survey for various countries.
As many as 71 per cent of respondents said technology at workplace makes them feel less connected to co-workers and 75 per cent mentioned that they felt disconnected from people in real world even outside workplace, owing to pervasiveness of technology.
A very high percentage of the survey respondents (91 per cent) said face-to-face meetings are the best way to interact with others. However, 87 per cent of respondents also pointed out that today, owing to technology, they have very few face-to-face interactions with clients.
A vast majority (95 per cent) of respondents agreed that technology and digitalisation has a major impact on their jobs and an even higher percentage (96 per cent) said that they see this trend as an opportunity.
Moorthy K Uppaluri, MD & CEO, Randstad India, said, “While keeping up with technology is imperative in today’s business environment, corporates must ensure that this does not replace human interaction. The ideal scenario would be when we can bring both these together to a harmonious balance to achieve the organisational objectives.”
