The Union Home Ministry's communication to the Telangana Government directing it to hand over law and order in Hyderabad to the Governor late on Friday has been received with concern by the KCR Government.

The State Government has decided to raise its concerns and has written to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister that this was against the spirit of federalism and it would not be possible to hand over law and order to the Governor as it is a State subject.

The issue of handing over law and order to the Governor is heading for a confrontation between the State and the Centre.

The State Chief Minister, K Chandrasekar Rao, has expressed his opposition to such a move now and the proposal in the past.

According to the arrangement, the Telangana Governor, ESL Narasimhan, will have the task of taking care of law and order in Hyderabad by creating a special cell and aided by a advisory body.

A special cell would be created to deal with hate crimes and extortions and a cell to protect vital installations.

The Andhra Pradesh Goverment has also raised the issue of the need to protect the interests of Seemandhra people in Hyderabad, while also ensuring their safety.
