Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance of Rs 712.62 crore to take up drought relief measures in Telangana.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao met the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday to brief him about the acute drought conditions in the State, seeking Central help to mitigate the severe drought.
While the State had asked for an assistance of about Rs 3,000 crore, the Prime Minister has sanctioned an immediate relief of Rs 712.62 crore under the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). “They discussed short term and long term measures to tackle drought in the State,” a Chief Minister’s office statement said.
