The Telangana Government has set up a Tax Force with experts from the Department of Commercial Taxes and other relevant departments to study the tax structure in the State. The Government promises to rationalise the tax structure, removing all the anomalies and provide a level-playing field for trade and industry.
Telangana IT and Panchayatraj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has said the task force had been set up after receiving complaints from the trade and industry about high rates of tax in some areas.
Addressing the two-day Make in India – Opportunities and Challenges here on Saturday, he asked the industry to employ local youth in their businesses. “Consider providing jobs to the local youth particularly in the semi-skilled and unskilled areas. We will assist you in training them,” he said.
He also asked them to spend the CSR (corporate social responsibility) funds in the surrounding areas.
The Minister said the new Industrial Policy Framework, passed recently in the Assembly, proposed several radical changes in approvals of projects.
Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivasa Yadav and Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy also addressed the gathering.
