The Telangana Government has asked the district collectors to get in touch with the families whose kin are trapped in the strife-torn Iraq. A fresh round of violence erupted Iraq in the last two weeks, leaving scores of Indian immigrants entrapped.

The Telangana Government has set up a helpline at the Secretariat and asked the district collectors to circulate the information in their respective districts. It asked them to collect the details such as name, passport number, location in Iraq and company in which their kin are employed.

“This information is vital for evacuation of such employees. We need to alert the Ministry of External Affairs,” N V Ramana Reddy, Special Secretary to Government, said here in a statement on Tuesday.

The helpline numbers at the Indian Mission in Baghdad (Iraq capital) are 00964 770 444 4899 and 00964 770 484 3247. The helpline coordinates in Hyderabad are 040 23220603 and 94408 54433. Its email id is so_nri@telangana.gov.in
