Educational institutions in the State capital and parts of Telangana district remained closed on Thursday, following a bandh call given by the Osmania University Joint Action Committee.
The committee had called for a bandh in protest against the statement of Ghulam Nabi Azad, in-charge of Congress party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, that an announcement on Telangana might take more time than the deadline of January 28.
After an all-party meet on the issue held on December 28, 2012, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said a decision could be out in one month.
