In a move that will bolster Telangana’s power supply requirement, the State has begun to receive commercial supply of power from Chhattisgarh through the recently commissioned Wardha-Dichpally 765 kV double circuit transmission line.

12-year supply Telangana had inked a memorandum with Chhattisgarh in November 2014 for supply of power for 12 years. The power is being offered at ₹3.90 a unit.

The new line executed by PowerGrid has provided a robust evacuation line between the two States.

Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TS Transco) commissioned its longest 400kV transmission line on Saturday thereby strengthening its transmission network. This ₹558-crore Double Circuit line has been constructed with Quad Moose Conductor measuring a length of 462 circuit kilometres interconnecting between 400kV Suryapet Substation in Suryapet district and 400kV Shankarpally sub-station in Rangareddy district.

Execution via JV The line has been executed in several packets which include 400kV QMDC line from 400kV Suryapet Sub-station to Nandiwanaparthi (Rangareddy district), a length of 240 circuit kilometres and another stretch of 400kV QMDC line from Nandiwanaparthi to 400kV Shankarpally Sub-station, a length of 222 circuit kilometres.

The line and related infrastructure were executed by EMC–MEIL (Joint Venture), Jyoti Structures and GE Ltd, Chennai.

After commissioning the line, D Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, TS Transco, said “The commissioned 400 kV line will result in strengthening the State’s 400-kV network.”

“This will help in improving quality of power supplied, better voltages and meeting the future loads of all category of consumers in the districts of Suryapet, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Vikarabad and Sangareddy districts, apart from meeting the ever-growing loads of Hyderabad and its surroundings,” he said.
