The Telangana Government hopes to attract Rs 20,000 crore investments by 2020 with its new life sciences policy.
This would facilitate reaching of Rs 50,000 worth pharma exports and create 50,000 jobs, according to the policy unveiled on the inaugural session of the 12th edition of the BioAsia 2015 here on Monday evening.
The life sciences sector is one of the 14 priority sectors identified in the new industrial policy which was released in December last year. It would be also be treated as an industrial sector.
The policy also proposes to establish a world pharma trade centre, a new pharma city with an integrated pharma university besides a life sciences knowledge centre. A vaccine testing facility will also be set up near Hyderabad public private partnership mode.
A medical devices park has been proposed to be set up in Sultanpur, Medak district.
