The Telangana government will convert about 8,650 panchayat offices in the State into mini banks and mini insurance service centres.
The State, which announced a plan to turn panchayats into e-panchayats, will provide all the government-to-citizen (G2C) services over the Internet to the villagers at the Digital Telangana centres.
“Besides providing citizen services online, these centres would act like business correspondents, giving people access to a few banking activities,” Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said.
Addressing a FICCI meet on Integrated Digital Solutions for a Smarter Telangana here today, he said the government will add more services to the e-governance delivery service Mee Seva to take the total services to 400 from the present 320.
“We are planning to make certain services only online, avoiding all physical interactions with government departments,” he said.
Catching them young Relating the efforts to make at least one person in each family digitally literate, he said in order to catch them young, the government would start digital literacy activity right from Class VI.
“You need not find them later and try to educate them in computers,” he said.
Seeing proliferation of internet usage over smart phones, the government will develop mobile apps to let people access the G2C services.
“We are going to meet mobile app developers in this regard,” he said.
