Thailand has expressed keen interest to invest in India’s north-eastern states, especially Nagaland, official sources here said today.
A delegation of officials from Thailand’s Board of Investment had visited Kohima and held consultations with the state government officials led by its Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, H K Khulu about its investment interest, the sources said.
The broad areas of interest indicated were agro-processing, infrastructure, tourism and other areas of mutual benefit.
Sources said the delegation had informed that the Thai government has taken a policy decision to facilitate investments in various identified countries including India, for which this initial visit was made during last two days.
It also informed that an office would be operationalised in Mumbai from May this year.
