Tiruvallur (+129 per cent), Kancheepuram (+126 per cent) and Vellore (+113 per cent) led the districts with the most heavy recorded heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu thus far during the North-East monsoon season.
These are the three districts to record more than 100 per cent of rainfall excess during October 1 to 22, according to statistics put up by Regional met Office, Chennai.
Tamil Nadu has received 36 per cent excess rain while the Union Territory of Puducherry has recorded 17 per cent, according to these statistics.
Meanwhile, India Met Department projections show that Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may witness a brief lull in heavy rain activity from tomorrow, which would be broken only by the weekend.
This is when fresh thunderstorms head towards the coast at the front of a rain wave emanating from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from November 27 (Friday).
Already, heavy rain is being reported from these islands in the South-East Bay of Bengal.
