There is a need to understand the strengths of Dakshina Kannada district and work on improving them, according to JR Lobo, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Mangaluru (South) constituency.
Participating in the workshop on ‘Vision 2025’, organised here by the Karnataka government on Tuesday, he said that sectors such as tourism, education and healthcare are some of the strengths of the district. In addition to this, Dakshina Kannada is also known for its ports and fisheries, commerce and industries, and horticulture sectors.
He suggested that the ‘Vision 2015’ document work on connecting these strengths for a better future for the district.
Meanwhile, it is also essential to focus on improving road and railway infrastructure in the district. Though Mudipu area on the outskirts of Mangaluru houses a major information technology company, the roads leading from the city to that place are in a bad condition.
In such a situation, the agencies concerned should focus on improving road and railway infrastructure for creating a better tomorrow and for the development of the district, he said.
