Congress, BJP and Lok Satta have announced their support to the Satyagraha call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (T-JAC) to protest against the controversial Government Order 39.
Members of political parties, farmers' organisations and non-governmental organisations will organise protests in villages and at the mandal headquarters on October 3, demanding the State Government to withdraw the GO.
The GO seeks to establish Rythu Samanvaya Samiti (Farmers' Coordination Committees) across the State to identify the beneficiaries for an ambitious scheme that seeks to give Rs 8,000 per acre of land as a grant every year.
T-JAC, however, alleges that the establishment of the committees is undemocratic. "It is a ploy to appoint the ruling party activists as the members of the committees. These are nominated posts," Kodandaram, Chairman of T-JAC, has alleged.
Asking the people to join the Satyagraha, he said the Government was trying to undermine the local bodies.
