West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that she would lead a party demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 1 to protest against the “anti-people” decisions of the Union Government.

The demonstration would primarily voice its concerns against the Centre’s recent decisions pertaining to FDI in retail, the cap on subsidised LPG and the diesel price hike.

“Let us fight the battle boldly and unitedly. In a democracy, the people are supreme. Our voice is the voice of the people. We must raise our voice, so that the Government will reconsider,” she said in a post on Facebook.

According to Banerjee, her party’s fight for the cause of common people continues, with the help of Maa, Mati, Manush , throughout the country.

“We all will be present to highlight these issues and request the Central Government to withdraw its ‘anti-people decisions’,” she said.

TMC, which has 19 MPs in the Lok Sabha, recently pulled out of the UPA Government at the Centre as a mark of protest against these issues.
