The Tamil Nadu Government has increased the housing loan ceiling and health insurance cover to government employees and civil service officers.
The housing loan ceiling has been increased from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh for government employees and from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 40 lakh for civil service officers, due to rising cost of construction material, an official press release said today.
The Government has also increased the health insurance cover from Rs two lakh to Rs four lakh and added 61 new medical and surgeries to the 52 covered under the insurance scheme. Through this initiative, 13.50 lakh families would benefit, the release said.
Soon after assuming office last year, the Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, had floated the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance scheme, scrapping the Kalaignar Health Insurance scheme launched by the former Chief Minister and DMK chief, Mr M. Karunanidhi.
