As the Tamil Nadu government gears for its Global Investors’ Meet this month, it has already cleared more than ₹50,000 crore worth of investment proposals in the State.

“Proposals of 27 companies that will be expanding its operations in Tamil Nadu have been approved. These companies are expected to generate job opportunities for about 50,000 people,” Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said in the Assembly in his reply to Governor’s address.

He said the State government’s single window clearance system would provide all required approvals in 30 days’ time.

The government has received 46 applications under the single window clearance scheme, of which 28 are expected to be given approvals, while other proposals are being examined.

He also said the State government’s single window portal for MSMEs was ensuring time-bound processing of applications and issue of clearances by various departments.

The government has so far received 329 applications, of which 230 applications would be given approvals in 30 days. Other applications are being evaluated.

The approvals of MSME proposals would lead to generation of jobs for more than 15,000 people.

To improve the global competitiveness of MSMEs in the state and attract foreign investments into the sector, the State government is in the processing creating a separate entity, the Chief Minister said.
