Supply of petrol, diesel and LPG is being arranged from other districts and neighbouring States to meet the shortage of fuel and gas in the city.
Most of the city's bunks have gone dry since yesterday as supply of various plants in Tondiarpet and Ennore in North Chennai are flooded.
After Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa instructed officials to ensure that there is no shortage in the city, a high level meeting among officials of the state government, oil companies and police was held today to work out a solution.
It was decided to bring petrol and diesel to the city from Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum plants located at Korukkupet, and also from ETTTPL in Ennore.
Further, 475 kl of petrol and 857 kl of diesel in a total of 67 tanker lorries will reach Chennai on a war footing. From Sankagiri near Salem 22 tanker lorries will reach the city; 25 from Tiruchi; 10 from Bengaluru and 10 from Chittoor, says a State government press release.
Similarly, LPG will come from IOC's bottling plant at Chengalpattu, the release said.
