TN to get 100 MW more from Kudankulam

Tamil Nadu has been allocated 100 MW of power out of the unallocated quota, from the date of commercial operation of unit–I of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project.

This was stated in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday by Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia, said a release from the Press Information Bureau.

The Minister clarified that the Tamil Nadu Government had requested that the entire power to be generated from Kudamkulam nuclear power plant should be allotted to the State, the release said.

Similarly, Kerala Government also had requested for allocation of 500 MW power from Kudankulam.

Distribution

The States have been informed that the distribution of power can be as per guidelines only.

According to guidelines, Tamil Nadu is entitled to 925 MW, Karnataka (442 MW) and Kerala 266 MW. Puducherry gets an allocation of 67 MW and 300 MW is kept aside as unallocated quota.
