Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa today announced the creation of model schools in most backward panchayat unions of the State.
The schools would be created in 26 panchayat unions of Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Mangalur, Dharmapuri, Erode, Tiruppur, Krishnagiri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Ulundurpet and Namakkal districts, an official release here said.
The schools would start functioning during the next academic year for classes from six to twelve in the neighbouring government high schools till they get their own building.
Posts of 17 teaching staff and seven non-teaching staff would be created in each of the model schools, the statement said.
