The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board will recruit over 4,000 field staff to strengthen its operations.
According to an official press release, the utility will recruit these workers through the employment exchanges. They will be paid Rs 3,250 a month during the initial two-year training period. Their services will then be regularised and given timescale pay.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, said in the press release that the State will soon be power surplus with a number of power projects being expedited and the operations of the Electricity Board being strengthened.
The Vallur 1,000 MW thermal power project, 1,200 MW North Chennai Thermal Power Project, 600 MW Mettur Thermal Power Project will soon commence operations.
In addition, the State Government has helped sort out issues relating to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, which will soon start generation, she said.
