Celebrations erupted at the Telangana Bhavan, the headquarter of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), as the party swept the urban local body polls. It has won 108 municipalities out of the 120 municipalities in the State.
Out of the nine Municipal Corporations, the ruling party has bagged seven corporations. The Congress has won in five municipalities and the Bharatiya Janata Party in three.
Stating that the unprecedented victory is a testimony to the State Government's policies, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said the Government wouldlaunch 'Pattana Pragati' (Development or Urban areas) to address the issues of urban areas.
The Chief Minister, along with several legislators, will soon visit Gulf countries to study the problems being faced by the migrants from Telangana there. "They are not getting much there. On the other hand, they can earn much more working in the construction and other industries," he said.
"We will set up a training centre in each district to equip them with some skills to make them employable here," he said.
