Regional airliner Trujet has announced it will operate flights from Arakkonam naval base airport for the next three days till the Chennai airport resumes operations.
Based out of Hyderabad, the airliner announced that the move is aimed at helping people stranded at Chennai due to heavy floods. Trujet will offer a complimentary bus service between Arakkonam and Koyambedu bus station. Chennai airport is closed for operations till December 6.
Vankayalapati Umesh, Managing Director, Turbo Megha Airways, said, “We are glad to be able to help the stranded passengers to fly in and out of Chennai by operating to an airport which is 70 km away. Staff is being moved from Tirupati and Chennai stations to Arakkonam to make this possible. We thank authorities for making it possible for us to be of service to people of Chennai in this tough time.”
