The Telangana State Transco and power utilities have entered into power purchase agreements with NTPC and Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
While Telangana will procure 1600 mw from NTPC Ramagundam thermal power project, it has inked pact to secure 1200 mw from the under implementation thermal power plant of State-owned coal miner Singareni Collieries Company Limited, the latter expected to be ready by March-April 2016, the coal mining company setting up the thermal power plant at Jayapore in Adilabad district of the State.
The agreements were signed between Telangana Transco, NTPC and SCCL, in the presence of State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
D Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of TS Transco inked the agreement with CV Anand, General Manager of NTPC and with N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing director of SCCL for the power supply arrangement.
It has been agreed that the power purchase cost from NTPC will be based on tariffs approved by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. In the case of supply of power from the SCCL power plant, the tariff would be as per the approvals made by the TS State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
