Two-wheeler major TVS Motor on Friday said the market for motorcycles in West Bengal has been “laggard” for the past 2-3 years.
Launching its premium motorcycle Phoenix 125 in the State, H. S. Goindi, President, Marketing of TVS Motor, said, “It (West Bengal) is a market which has been laggard for last couple of years. At present, the penetration level is much lower than even Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.”
He, however, pointed out that the company is hopeful to see “good growth” both in West Bengal and eastern markets going forward.
“The market here is picking up pace much faster,” Goindi said.
Targeted at the young salaried couples and self-employed men, the basic model of Phoenix 125 is priced at Rs 58,800.
According to Goindi, the two-wheeler industry in India has been seeing flat growth this fiscal.
