Two policemen killed by militants in Srinagar city

Terrorists struck in the heart of the city killing two policemen in the crowded Hari Singh high street, three days ahead of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Terrorists using silencer-fitted pistols carried out near simultaneous attacks at Jehangir Chowk and Sarai Bala injuring Head constable Mohammed Maqbool and constable Nazir Ahmed.

While Mabool died on his way to hospital, Nazir Ahmed succumbed to his injuries when he was being operated in the hospital.

The Prime Minister is to visit the Valley on June 25 and return the next day. He will be inaugurating the train service between Banihal and Qazigund.
