Tyre and rubber industries have welcomed the move by Kerala Government to support the small rubber growers.
Having come in support of the planters by procuring sheet rubber at enhanced prices, the tyre industry is happy to note that Kerala Government has planned to allocate ₹300 crore in the State Budget in support of the growers. This will go a long way in boosting the spirits of growers and revival of plantations sector, said Rajiv Budhraja, Director General, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA).
We have always been in favour of direct support to the growers by the Government and therefore the move by the state government is timely and much desired. We hope the government will also look into the concerns of small rubber products manufacturers who have also been at the receiving end of cheaper imports from China and other countries, Mohinder Gupta, President All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) said.
The industry has therefore asked for long pending correction in inverted duty structure by increasing import duty on finished products.
