Demand ride-sharing company Uber has joined hands with Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd to provide reliable first and last mile connectivity. Uber has set up its first kiosk at Miyapur Metro Station and will soon expand it to other stations across the city.
From reduced travel time to reliable first and last-mile connectivity, this partnership will also alleviate the demand for parking, thereby reducing congestion in the city.
Deepak Reddy, General Manager, AP & Telangana, Uber, in a statement said, “Bridging the first and last mile connectivity gaps, Uber aims to increase the use of public transit systems such as the Hyderabad Metro. Our goal is to be a good partner to cities and its transit systems, thereby, alleviating the need for parking and finally reducing private car ownership.”
“Services like uberPOOL that encourage ride sharing and uberMOTO that save time are critical to envisaging the future of urban mobility,” he said.
In an effort to provide access to reliable and affordable first/ last mile connectivity, Uber has expanded its uberMOTO services to Miyapur and Ameerpet. Whether it’s a shared ride on uberPOOL or an uberMOTO ride with fares starting at Rs 20, getting to and from the metro stations will now be easier with Uber, the company said. This is also expected to create increased demand for Uber's driver partners.
