In its efforts to control the spread of Covid-19 in Uttara Kannada, the district administration has set up teams of officials at the village-level.
Constituted under the leadership of the panchayat development officer at each village panchayat, the teams collect information about the entry of people from other districts and states.
The village-level team includes representatives from the teaching community, anganwadis, ASHA workers, village accountants and beat policemen.
Harish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada district, said that the team members collect information about the entry of people from other districts and states into the villages under their jurisdiction, and submit details to the panchayat development officer concerned of the village daily.
The panchayat development officers from the taluks concerned submit the details to the tahshildar’s office at the taluk-level. The tahshildar and taluk executive officers, who supervise the activities of the teams at the village panchayat-level, then send the consolidated details to the district administration daily, he said.
