At the end of monsoon period, water levels at major reservoirs generating power (hydroelectric) in Karnataka are less than 15-year average levels.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, water level in all reservoirs in the state has decreased and is less compared to the corresponding period of previous year level.

Cauvery Basin

The levels at Harangi, KRS and Kabini reservoirs are less when compared to the corresponding period of 15 years average levels and more at Hemavathi reservoir.

The Harangi reservoir level has decreased by 3 feet. The present level is less by 4.13 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 5.68 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Hemavathi reservoir level has decreased by 2.69 feet. The present level is more by 4.19 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 6.93 feet when compared to last year levels.

The KRS reservoir level has decreased by 0.83 foot. The present level is less by 7.9 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 12.91 feet when compared last year levels.

The Kabini reservoir level has decreased by 1.94 feet. The present level is less by 6.57 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 7.33 feet when compared last year levels.

In the Malnad region, water levels at Linganamakki, Supa reservoirs are less when compared to the corresponding period of 15 years average levels and more at Varahi reservoir.

Krishna Basin

In Krishna basin, water levels at Bhadra, Ghataprabha, Malaprabha and Alamatti reservoirs are less when compared to the corresponding period of 15 years average. It is more at Tungabhadra and Narayanapura reservoirs.

The Bhadra reservoir level has decreased by 1.17 feet. The present level is less by 5.53 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 12.33 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Tungabhadra reservoir level has decreased by 1.07 feet. The present level is more by 0.96 foot compared to 15 years average level and less by 1.10 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Ghataprabha reservoir level has decreased by 0.60 foot. The present level is less by 1.13 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 2.53 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Malaprabha reservoir level has decreased by 0.29 foot. The present level is less by 8.72 feet compared to 15 years average level and less by 18.15 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Alamatti reservoir level has decreased by 1.21 feet. The present level is less by 0.58 foot compared to 15 years average level and less by 1.17 feet when compared to last year levels.

The Narayanapura reservoir level has decreased by 0.36 foot. The present level is more by 1.15 feet compared to 15 years average level and more by 3.43 feet when compared to last year levels.
