Outreach campaign for knitwear industry

Dow Water and Process Solutions (DW&PS), market leaders in reverse osmosis (RO), ultra filtration (UF) and ion exchange resins, is looking to collaborate with the textile industry in Tirupur.

Seminar on water

As part of its campaign towards creating awareness about Dow’s water treatment solutions, the company recently reached out to textile units in the knitwear hub of Tirupur by organising a seminar on ‘Water and Business Quality’ which focussed on wastewater compliance, increasing efficiency and saving energy.

Around 170 textile mill owners and associated influencers are said to have attended the event. Terming it a successful outreach programme, John Patrin, Global Marketing Manager, DW&PS, and Katariina Majamaa, Global End User Marketing Manager, said that while the seminar focused on textile wastewater solutions, specific technologies including RO, UF and Tequatic Plus Self-Cleaning Particle Filtration solutions were also highlighted.

Patrin said that Dow has been an innovator in water separation technologies since 1940, expanding and growing along the way. “Filtration is a relatively new concept for the audience, but the waste water treatment topic was received with both openness and curiosity by the participants.”

Not confined to Tirupur

“Tirupur units are not alone. Such issues are faced by textile mill owners across geographies,” Majamaa said highlighting some of its innovative technologies, and underscoring the company’s objective in helping industries and people get more out of every drop of water.

Dow Microbial Control also participated in the event with a special segment about the growing consumer demand for apparel and other textiles that stay fresher longer, and how Dow’s cutting-edge Silvadur Antimicrobial could help meet that demand by eliminating odour-causing bacteria from fabrics that have been treated with it.
