The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) met here on Friday and recommended to President Ram Nath Kovind to convene the Winter Session from December 15 to January 5. The session will consider at least three legislations — the Ordinances on GST, Insolvency and Bankruptcy and Forest Act — and Supplementary Demands for Grants.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar told reporters after the meeting that the Session will have a total of 14 sittings over 22 days. He appealed to all political parties for fruitful and constructive discussions on important Bills.
When asked about the Bills on triple talaq and the National Commission for Backward Classes, he said there is a strong desire among people for legislation on these two important issues. “The government is committed to responding to this desire,” he said.
