Work on the much-awaited Mussoorie-Dehradun ropeway project will begin by May 15, official sources said here on Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain, while holding a meeting to review the progress of the project, directed officials to remove all hurdles at the earliest and begin work on it by May 15, they said.
The land earmarked for the project from Purkul to Hathipaon and from Hathipaon to the Library (Mussoorie) should be demarcated by measuring it physically, Jain said.
Taking serious note of the delay in the project, Jain said strict action would be taken against officials found responsible for any more delay, he said.
The Director General, Tourism (Central Government) had agreed to make funds available for the ropeway, he said.
