CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has come out in support of retired defence personnel who are protesting here for speedy implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme.
In a open letter to army men, he said he is “deeply concerned” over the fact that their indefinite relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar is on from June 14 and the Centre has made no reconciliatory efforts.
Retirees from the armed forces have been legitimately agitating for recognition and implementation of OROP, which is supported by the entire political spectrum of the country, he added.
