YSR Congress Party will launch a three-day agitation for implementation of complete loan waiver in Andhra Pradesh from Thursday.
The agitation, christened as 'Narakasura Vadha’, would involve burning of effigies of Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president, N Chandrababu Naidu, in all villages across the state.
"Our objective is to put pressure on State Government to fulfil poll promises. I also request communist party members and all others to join us," YSR Congress Party chief, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, said in a press conference here on Wednesday.
"As per the 18th State Level Bankers Committee meeting presided by Naidu himself, almost Rs 1.01 lakh crop and Dwacra loans are outstanding. But, now he had only announced waiver of about Rs 35,000 crore," Reddy said.
Taking exception to the plans of State Government to mobilise funds through securitisation of forest wealth and sand mines, he claimed there was no clarity on the waiver modalities and the Kotaiah panel on the waiver was being used to delay the process.
"The farmers have already lost the benefits of crop insurance and interest subvention and women of self-help groups are being served bank notices,’’ he said.
The YSR Congress President also advised to media to not to "extend political support'' to the Telugu Desam Party and work for people when some journalists tried to seek some clarifications.
