Government think-tank Niti Aayog has hired consultants, including Ernst and Young, McKinsey and Company and Boston Consultancy Group, to provide high quality services for specific and time-bound tasks.
“The Niti Aayog hires consultancy services through open competitive bidding,” Minister of State for Planning, Rao Inderjit Singh, said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha today.
“In order to promote PPPs in infrastructure in states, Ernst and Young (EY) has been engaged. In order to transform health and education in three states, each under Development Support Services for States (DSSS), a consortium of McKinsey and Company and IPE Global, Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) and Piramal Foundation Education have been engaged, respectively,” the minister added.
These projects, Singh said, are at an initial stage and no payment has been made so far.
To a separate query, the minister replied that studies have highlighted that MGNREGA has a positive impact in terms of a rise in rural wages and reduction in distress migration from rural areas.
