The Cabinet on Monday has approved construction of a new four-lane bridge with approaches across river Ganga on National Highway 19 in Patna, Bihar along with the Mahatma Gandhi bridge over the next three years at an investment of ₹2,926.42 crore.
The 14.5-km eight-lane bridge will connect North and South Bihar, passing through Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts of Bihar.
It also approved setting up of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) one at Madurai in Tamil Nadu at the cost of ₹1,264 crore and another at Bibinagar in Telangana at ₹1,028 crore. These will be set up under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakhsa Yojana.
Each AIIMS will add around 750 hospital beds and have 15-20 super specialty departments, a government statement said.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has also given approval for setting up of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in every block with more than 50 per cent ST population and at least 20,000 tribal population.
